India’s premium spirits landscape is witnessing a shift as emerging brands introduce products designed for modern drinking culture. Among the companies gaining attention is Blisswater Industries, a Bengaluru-based alco-bev company building a portfolio that combines storytelling, flavour innovation, and strong brand identity.

Founded by entrepreneur Varna Bhat, Blisswater Industries has steadily expanded its offerings with products such as Rahasya Vodka and Yaksha Whisky. The company’s latest launch, Salty Nerd Vodka, reflects a new direction in vodka positioning, one that emphasises flavour, personality, and social experiences rather than traditional notions of neutrality.

With India’s alco-bev market continuing to grow and consumers increasingly exploring premium and craft-led products, Blisswater Industries is positioning itself as a brand that blends innovation with cultural inspiration.

Salty Nerd Vodka: A Flavour-Driven Expression

The latest addition to the Blisswater Industries portfolio, Salty Nerd Vodka, has been designed for the new generation of consumers who view drinking as a social and expressive activity.

Distilled from premium grains and charcoal filtered for smoothness, the vodka is bottled at 42.8% ABV, allowing it to work equally well as a sipping spirit or a cocktail base. The product aims to sit comfortably between serious sipping and casual party drinking, appealing to consumers seeking approachable yet characterful spirits.

Inside Blisswater’s bold beverage line-up

Unlike conventional vodkas that focus on neutrality, Salty Nerd Vodka introduces flavour and personality through six distinct variants:

  • Classic, offering a clean and versatile profile
  • Imperial Salted Caramel, balancing sweetness with savoury notes
  • Capitalistic Cola, inspired by nostalgic cola flavours with spice and citrus hints
  • Liberal Lemon, delivering bright citrus freshness
  • Conservative Cherry, combining tart fruit with floral undertones
  • Woke Mint, offering a cooling herbal finish

The unconventional naming strategy and flavour-forward expressions reflect the brand’s playful identity. Rather than presenting vodka purely as a neutral base spirit, Blisswater Industries positions Salty Nerd as a product meant for gatherings, house parties, and nightlife occasions where flavour and experience play a central role.

The brand is currently available in markets including Karnataka, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and select international outlets in the UAE, with further expansion planned.

Building a distinctive spirits portfolio

Salty Nerd Vodka follows earlier innovations from Blisswater Industries, which entered the market with Rahasya Vodka, a spirit designed to bring an Indian identity to the vodka category.

Infused with select botanicals inspired by Indian heritage, Rahasya Vodka moves away from the concept of a neutral vodka by introducing aromatic complexity. The brand draws visual inspiration from the mandala, symbolising balance and mystique, while the name “Rahasya”, meaning mystery in Sanskrit, reflects the undisclosed blend of botanicals used in the spirit.

The company later expanded into whisky with Yaksha Whisky, a premium blend combining Highland Scotch malts with Indian grain spirits. Inspired by the mythical elixir Soma, the whisky incorporates botanicals to create a layered flavour profile with malty, fruity notes and a gentle smoky finish.

Yaksha Whisky has also earned international recognition, receiving a Silver medal at the USA Spirits Ratings and another Silver at the IGC International Spirits Challenge 2025 in Hong Kong, highlighting the brand’s growing credibility in global spirits competitions.

Blisswater Industries has also experimented with limited-edition releases such as Yaksha Blue Moon, an artisanal whisky crafted with Indian malts and five-year-aged Scotch malts, enhanced with ingredients like Kashmiri saffron and Nilgiri nutmeg.

Meet the founder behind the vision

At the heart of Blisswater Industries’ growth is founder and CEO Varna Bhat, an entrepreneur who transitioned into the alco-bev industry after building successful ventures in marketing and branding.

Before launching Blisswater Industries, Bhat founded companies focused on experiential and eco-friendly marketing solutions. This experience in brand building and consumer engagement shaped the foundation of her approach to the spirits business.

Her entry into the alco-bev sector was driven by a realisation that India lacked a signature spirit reflecting its own cultural identity. This insight ultimately led to the creation of Rahasya Vodka in 2020, the company’s first product.

Operating in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Bhat views innovation and creativity as key drivers of growth, focusing on building distinctive products rather than competing solely on legacy or scale.

What’s next for Blisswater

As India’s alco-bev sector continues to evolve, brands that combine strong storytelling with differentiated products are gaining traction.

Through flavour-forward spirits such as Salty Nerd Vodka and culturally inspired products like Rahasya Vodka and Yaksha Whisky, Blisswater Industries is working to carve out a unique space within the premium spirits category.

With a growing portfolio and a focus on innovation, the company appears poised to further expand its presence in India’s increasingly dynamic alco-bev market.
